Ryan Buckley

Ryan is Housemaster of Abbeylands and Director of Cricket Coaching at Sherborne. A former professional cricketer, he played for Durham County Cricket Club, winning the County Championship in 2013 and the Royal London Cup in 2014 alongside England internationals.

He later spent six years as Director of Cricket at The Hong Kong Cricket Club before returning to the UK in 2022, coaching at Millfield School prior to joining Sherborne.

Ryan lives in Abbeylands with his partner, Kieran, and their Short-haired German Pointer, Billy.
 

Abbeylands sits just off Sherborne High Street, its windows framed by a famous wisteria and views onto the town. While grounded in the real world, it remains only steps from the School’s main buildings – the perfect blend of independence and connection.

Known affectionately as “Happylands”, the House is defined by its warm, positive atmosphere. Comfy furnishings and a family feel make it a true home from home, while the building’s heritage helps boys feel part of something bigger.

Resilience, kindness and compassion are key values here – nurtured across year groups by both staff and pupils.
