Tessa’s musical journey began almost as soon as she could speak. Singing came naturally to her as a child, followed by three years of piano before the pandemic briefly paused her creative path. When she arrived at prep school, her mother encouraged her to rekindle her love of music, and from that moment, opportunity took centre stage.
Starting cello lessons in Year 6 ignited something special. Tessa was instantly fascinated by the instrument’s rich tone and the artistry involved in bringing it to life. |
Now a proud Music Scholar at Sherborne Girls, Tessa embraces every opportunity that comes her way. She sings in two choirs, performs in two ensembles and a scholars’ trio. She is currently working towards Grade 7 singing, having previously achieved Grades 4 and 6, and continues to progress rapidly on the cello, skipping grades as her confidence and skill have grown. |

Beyond the music rooms, Tessa has found a true sense of home at Sherborne Girls. Boarding life has given her both independence and community, from the privacy of her cubie, which offers space for reflection, to the laughter shared in the common room and the comfort of school traditions she now calls her own. |
“I love the cubies because it’s your own space, but you can still hang out with friends,” she says. “The common room sofas are really comfy, and the food is just so good. There’s always something for everyone!” At weekends, Tessa enjoys competing in sports fixtures and spending time with friends in town. |
